A laminar flow cabinet or tissue culture hood is a partially enclosed bench work surface designed to prevent contamination of biological samples, semiconductor wafers, or any particle-sensitive materials.
The equipment, the Trust stated, was expected to significantly enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality patient care.
The Trust was set up in memory of the founder of United Mattress and Foam Company Ltd, which assembled Vono mattresses in the country and later produced the popularly known “Boakye Mattresses”.
The donation ceremony was attended by notable hospital officials, including the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of the KBTH, Dr Frank Owusu Sekyere, the acting Director of Medical Services, Dr Harry Akoto, the acting Director of Nursing Services, Grace Anyomi, the Director of Human Resources, Yehuza Jawula, and the Head of Public Relations, Mustapha Salifu.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the hospital, the Head of the Dental Unit, Dr Matthew Boamah, expressed gratitude on behalf of the clinic.
He emphasised the importance of the dental chair in improving patient experience and clinical efficiency.

Similarly, the Head of the Haematology Department, Dr Amma Benneh Akwasi Kuma, praised the foundation for its timely support.
She stated that the Laminar Flow Cabinet would significantly enhance infection control and ensure a sterile environment for treating haematology patients.
