He pleaded not guilty to the two charges and was remanded in custody to reappear before the court on a later date.

Presenting the facts of the case to the court, presided over by Asmah Akwasi Asiedu, the prosecutor, ASP Richmond Akwasi Yeboah said the complainant was the security supervisor of Tropo Farms Limited, located along the Volta Lake at Mpakadam in the Asuogyaman District.

He said the accused, who was also a fisherman, shared a common boundary with Tropo Farms.

According to the prosecutor, on September 18, 2014 at about 3p.m., there was a heavy storm on the Volta Lake around Mpakadam and its environs.  He said as a result, one of the security platforms of Tropo Farms valued at GH¢6,000 broke off from its anchor and went in the direction of the house of the accused person.

The prosecutor  said the following day at about 5a.m., the accused person woke up and saw the said platform close to his house and with the intention to commit crime, he removed  and dismantled it and hid the eight drums and the other materials in his room.

He said a report was made to the police at Frankadua and investigations revealed that the accused person stole the item and completely destroyed it.

The prosecutor said the items were retrieved and parked in the premises of Tropo Farms for safe keeping.

The accused was then invited to the police station and in his caution statement he admitted the offence but added that the complainant had ever seized his canoe.
