Fire destroys five bedrooms, GH¢84,000 lost in Kumasi night blaze

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service have contained a domestic fire that ravaged part of a compound house at Kotei Twuduasi, near Fosuaa Homes Hostel in Kumasi, on Sunday night.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the Service said it received a distress call at about 8:37 pm. Personnel from the KNUST Fire Station, led by ADO I Kwaku Baffour Awuah, responded promptly and arrived at the scene at 8:58 pm to find the blaze at an advanced stage, with flames engulfing several rooms.

Reinforcements from the Regional Headquarters Substation were subsequently dispatched to assist with the operation. Firefighters brought the fire under control at 9:36 pm and fully extinguished it at approximately 10:12 pm.

The incident affected five of the seven bedrooms in the compound house, destroying the rooms and their contents, including cash amounting to GH¢84,000. Two bedrooms were salvaged, with their belongings remaining intact.

No injuries or fatalities were reported.

Authorities have indicated that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
