‘Firstborns are unique’

Firstborn children have been likened to John the Baptist, who was tasked by God to prepare the way for others.

Speaking at a conference in Kumasi recently, the founder of the Firstborn Foundation, Mr Emmanuel Bright Wilson, said firstborns were unique in the sight of God.

He said the conference was to charge firstborns to take full responsibility as some did not understand the roles they have to play in their families.

“It is a wakeup call for every firstborn because in some instances, some families are not feeling the impact of firstborns, hence the need to call on the firstborns to live up to their expectations. If the firstborn gets his or her act right, the other siblings will definitely make it,” he stated.

Using herself as an example, Mrs Effe Eleanor Amanor of Nhyira FM narrated how she, as a firstborn, was forced to drop out of the Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School by her father in order to engage in a trade.

She urged firstborns to be wary of their words, actions, thoughts and interactions with others.

Rev. George Deuter Mensah of the International Central Gospel Church added that firstborns have priesthood functions and a model of relationship with God.

He said they influence others and are diligent when entrusted with responsibility.
