The one-week programme has been designed to mourn and celebrate the life of Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa, whose death occurred last year at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

A three-member delegation from the Akuapem Traditional Council, led by the Ahenemahene, Nana Mfodjo Koranteng, announced this when they paid a courtesy call on the management of the Graphic

Communications Group Limited (GCGL) in Accra on Tuesday.

Other members of the delegation were Nana Osafo Kantanka Adjei, Abakomahene, and Nana Kofi Djan, Asumkahene.

The purpose of the meeting was to officially announce the period for the funeral of Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa.

The Paramount Chief of the Akuapem Traditional Area was also a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the GCGL. The delegation presented two bottles of schnapps to formally invite the company to the funeral rites.

They were welcomed by a team from GCGL led by its Managing Director, Mr Kenneth Ashigbey.

Present at the meeting were Ms Peggy Addo, Director, Human Resource Director and Administration; Mr Yaw Boadu Ayeboafoh, the Director of Newspaper; Mr Albert Sam, the Head of Corporate Communications, and Mr Kingsley K. Inkoom, the Deputy Editor of the Daily Graphic.

Funeral rites
Touching on some of the activities that would be organised to mourn and celebrate the life of Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa, Nana Sarfo Kantanka Adjei said the one-week event would focus on giving a proper and honourable burial to their chief.

“There would be a customary and traditional event where the entire Okuapeman would be involved in the funeral rites. The final funeral day would be February 7, 2016, when government officials and other dignitaries are expected to pay their last respects to the late chief,” he said.

Strong legacy
Mr Ashigbey described the late paramount chief as a true mark of a leader who made tremendous contributions to the development of the Akuapem Traditional Area and the nation at large.

He said the legacy left behind by Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa ought to be emulated, especially by other traditional leaders.

“Oseadeeyo Addo Dankwa lived a fulfilled life which we all must celebrate and emulate. The fact that he lived so long attests to that fact that he really made an impact,” Mr Ashigbey said.

He said GCGL would use its various media platforms to let the country and the rest of the world know the exceptional life of the late paramount chief.

“Graphic Communications Group Limited will do its best to support the Akuapem Traditional Council in its plans to give an honourable burial to their late Chief,” Mr Ashigbey added.
