Adaklu Traditional Council office inaugurated

A GH¢ 900,000 office building for the Adaklu-Traditional Council was inaugurated last Friday at Adaklu-Abuadi.

The edifice, which was constructed with the Member of Parliament’s (MP’s) Common Fund, has a 150-capacity conference hall, an office for the president of the traditional council and other units for the staff.

It was executed within a year by a local company, Papatsitsia Enterprises Limited.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Adaklu, Governs Agbodza, who is the Minister of Roads and Highways, personally financed the furnishing of the facility at an additional cost of more than GH₵600,000.

The Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, said the structure signified the renewal of hope for progress in Adaklu.

It also meant the government was committed to the values of culture and ready to work with chiefs at all times, so far as nation building was concerned, he added.  

That, Mr Ibrahim said, was also evident in the recent increase in the monthly allowances of paramount chiefs by 300 per cent.

Preserve peace

Mr Ibrahim urged the people of Adaklu to preserve the prevailing peace in the area to open more doors for the rapid development of the area.

Meanwhile, the MP said, the traditional council office building was the result of the judicious use of his Common Fund and marked the commencement of rapid and smooth development in Adaklu.

He said Adaklu had only one paramountcy, for which reason, there was no need for any form of conflict among the people.

The MP entreated the traditional authorities to dedicate the office to coordinate land administration as well in Adaklu.

He said the office building had definitely restored the dignity and deserved respect for traditional authority in Adaklu.

On roads, Mr Agbodza gave an assurance that Adaklu was a priority area and would never be left out of its fair share of road projects.

He appealed to the people of Adaklu to support the contractors undertaking the road projects in the area to do quality and timely work.

Attract investors

The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, said Adaklu was revered as one of the most peaceful traditional areas in the region.

For that matter, he said, the Volta Regional Coordinating Council would work jointly with the chiefs to attract investors in various sectors to the area.

“Your votes must yield dividends in the form of development,” the regional minister said.

The Paramount Chief of Adaklu, Togbe Gbogbi Atsa V, said the traditional council office marked a new dawn in the area, a symbol of unity and sterling traditional governance in Adaklu.

He said the government’s unwavering demonstration of inclusive governance inspired great confidence among the citizenry.

Togbe Gbogbi Atsa, who is the President of the Adaklu Traditional Council, touched on the Big Push road projects and said they would surely boost productivity in agriculture and improve the well-being of the people to great heights.
