ARS petitions Volta Regional Minister over flouting of court order

The Executive Committee of the Apostles Revelation Society (ARS) has petitioned the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, over what it describes as the unlawful behaviour of a former leader of the church, Reverend Nyeenyami Wovenu, at Tadzewu in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region.

The petition said the Sogakope High Court in July 2022, restrained Reverend Nyeenyami Wovenu from meddling in the administration of the ARS and entrusted the management of the administration of the society to the current management led by the Executive Chairman of the General Conference, Torgbi Awli.

The petition signed by Torgbi Awli on October 18, 2024, also highlighted how the court ordered the Volta Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service to provide security for the execution of the said orders and to provide security for the protection of the leadership to take control of various administrative offices at the ARS headquarters at Tadzewu.

The petition said in a rather shocking twist of affairs, the Ketu North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Anthony Avorgbedor, instructed the Governing Council of the ARS to look for an alternative venue for its 40th General Conference on August 10, this year, instead of the main conference hall.

The General Conference of ARS, therefore, appealed to the regional minister to intervene in the matter to ensure the court order was complied with in the interest of peace.
