Assemblyman supports 25 health facilities at Amansie South

Twenty-five health facilities in the Amansie South District have benefitted from a donation of medical equipment valued at GH¢320,000 to support their delivery of quality health care.

The equipment donated by the Assembly Member for Manso Takorase, Dominic Bonsu, included delivery beds, thermometer guns, blood pressure machines, wheelchairs, drip stands, stretchers, baby scales, ward screens, and television sets.

The gesture is expected to help improve healthcare efficiency, support safe delivery, and enhance patient comfort in health centres across the Amansie South District.

It also adds to a series of community development initiatives undertaken by Mr Bonsu, who has, over the years, supported educational institutions, sanitation drives, and youth empowerment programmes in the Amansie South District.

At the presentation ceremony, Mr Bonsu said the initiative stemmed from his desire to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure that medical facilities in rural communities were adequately equipped to serve residents.

He explained that the improvement of healthcare services should not rest solely on the government, but should involve collective action from individuals, communities and private organisations.

“Healthcare is a shared responsibility. The government alone cannot provide everything needed in our health facilities, so we must all play our part.”

“It is my hope that this support will help improve health outcomes in our district and ensure that our people receive the care they deserve.”

The Assembly Member expressed his appreciation to healthcare professionals in the district for their dedication, especially in deprived communities, and encouraged them to continue serving with commitment despite the challenges.

Timely support

Receiving the equipment, the District Director of Health Services, Ofosu Kwabi Nasas, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiary facilities.

He said the donation was timely, given that many health centres were struggling with inadequate logistics and equipment, which affected their ability to provide prompt and efficient medical care.

“This support has come at the right time. Many of our facilities have been operating under severe constraints, and this donation will go a long way to improve service delivery and patient comfort,” Mr Nasas said.

The District Planning Officer, Mr Yaw Opoku, commended Bonsu for what he described as a practical demonstration of leadership and community commitment.

A community leader, Kwaku Abonɛɛ, speaking on behalf of the traditional leaders and residents, commended the Assemblyman for his consistent commitment to the welfare of his constituents and his efforts to enhance public healthcare services.

He called on other well-meaning individuals to emulate the example by contributing to the development of critical sectors such as health and education.
