Change mindset to compete on world stage — Ghanaian author
A Swiss-based Ghanaian inventor and author, Adu Opoku-Boahin, has called for a change of mindset of Africans to take their rightful place on the global stage.
"No one can create change without first changing their mindset, be it a continent, a corporation, or an individual," he said in a book, "Disrupting the African mindset - From divided to united."
Skills development
The Chief Executive Officer of a global skills development scheme, Insted, Mr Opoku-Boahin, expressed worry that Africa was still stuck in poverty although it's future wealth was in its people.
The book addresses the continent's educational system, health and the need to have a paradigm shift.
Currently on a global tour to address Africa's challenging issues and to promote his new book, Mr Opoku-Boahin underscored the fact that Africa had enormous potential and the world’s fastest growing youth which needed to be harnessed as well as its natural resources.
"Most think of its natural achievable change. But we can deliver now by empowering young people first to move forward now," the book said.
The book noted that Africa, through colonialism and now through debt, was kept divided by its own people.
While calling for a United Africa to tackle it's numerous challenges, including poverty, the book also admitted that debt and investment diversification were suffering as a result.
The 250-page book shared with Daily Graphic also explored Africa’s immense mineral wealth and growing population.
