GCB Bank ladies fund life-saving surgery

The Ladies Association of the GCB Bank PLC has extended financial support to Annellie Danso for her to undergo vital surgery at the Oral and Maxillofacial Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Ms Danso has been grappling with a severe and complex condition where both joints that connect the jaw to the skull become stuck or fused.

The oral and maxillofacial condition (relating to the jaws and face) known as Bilateral Temporomandibular Joint Ankylosis requires surgery that is critical to her health and future well-being.

When this occurs, it can be hard to move your jaw, which means you might have trouble opening your mouth wide, chew or talk.

Understanding the urgency of her situation, the ladies association stepped forward to cover the full cost of the surgery.

This support exemplifies the bank’s unwavering commitment to social responsibility and its dedication to uplifting members of the community during their most challenging times.

The President of the Ladies Association, Pearl Tabua Benning, expressed the bank’s commitment to supporting Annellie.

“At the GCB Bank, we believe that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to inspire hope and healing,” she stated.

Complex condition

At the presentation of the funding to Annielle at the teaching hospital last week, the unit’s medical team, led by Rev. Dr Matthew Boamah, explained the patient’s condition in detail, highlighting the complexity of the surgery and its significance in restoring her health.

He expressed gratitude to the association and the bank for the timely intervention.

“This support is not just financial; it’s a lifeline for Annellie. The surgery is critical and thanks to your generosity, we can now proceed with the confidence that she will receive the best possible care,” he said.

Annellie’s mother, overwhelmed with emotion, also expressed gratitude to the ladies association and the bank.

This initiative reflects the bank’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility, focusing on health, education, sports, environment and culture.

The bank continues to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals across the country, ensuring that those in need are not left behind.

In attendance were key members of the ladies association and corporate affairs team.
