Kempinski Hotel marks month-long breast cancer awareness campaign
Globally, October is recognised as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer, early diagnosis and treatment.
In Ghana, breast cancer has become the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women, prompting an increasing number of organisations, including Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra, to advocate early detection and support efforts to reduce breast cancer mortality in the country.

Since its launch in 2023, the flagship corporate social responsibility programme by Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, known as BE Health, has championed the fight against breast cancer in collaboration with Breast Care International (BCI) Ghana.
Throughout October, the hotel led several initiatives on the theme: ‘Early Detection Saves Lives’, which included guest donation drives, educational seminars, health screening and wellness walks.
Walk for the Cure
One of the campaign’s highlights was the ‘Walk for the Cure’, organised in partnership with Breast Care International.
Breast Cancer Survivors - BCI
Held in Ejisu, Ashanti Region, on the theme: ‘Together We Can Change the Narrative about Cancers in Africa’, the event gathered thousands of individuals, including healthcare professionals, students, breast cancer survivors and business and community leaders in a powerful show of support for breast cancer advocacy.
Additionally, Kempinski hosted BCI’s fund-raising event and supported the sod-cutting ceremony for the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Comprehensive Cancer Centre of Excellence.
“Over the past year, BE Health has made a meaningful impact by providing essential resources and support to medical practitioners and individuals facing breast cancer, making a meaningful difference in their lives,” the General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra, Hanno Barkhoff, said.
