Let’s support to complete Kuntunse Project on schedule - PCG Moderator urges members

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, has renewed his call on members of the church to intensify their support for the ongoing Kuntunse Project, describing it as a landmark initiative that must be completed as a legacy to mark the church's 200th anniversary and also to the glory of God.

While commending members of the PCG worldwide for their support, which has helped work to steadily progress at the site, he added that it was important for the support to be sustained to ensure the timely completion of the first phase.

Speaking during a visit by the General Assembly Council (GAC) to inspect progress at the site, the Moderator expressed gratitude to the consultants, contractors, and members of the project committee for their dedication and steady work.

He gave an assurance that the GAC was committed to doing what is right, including mobilising congregations to contribute more towards the completion of the project.

“We are grateful to God for the work done so far, and I want to take this opportunity to thank all who have contributed.

From those who gave the minimum of 200 Ghana cedis, to those who gave 1,000, 10,000, 20,000, 100,000, and even 1 million Ghana cedis—we are deeply thankful.

Every contribution has brought us this far,” he said.

Kuntunse project

Sited on a 19.75-acre plot, the Kuntunse Project is the legacy project to mark the bicentennial celebrations of the PCG.

When completed, it would serve as a spiritual hub providing a world-class centre for conferences, retreats, spiritual growth, and community development, symbolising the church’s commitment to excellence, growth and service.

Facilities will include large conference halls (1,200 & 5,000 seats), an administration block, a library, a museum, a clinic, hostels, and prayer gardens.

It is being financed primarily by the church and also special levies being paid by members of the church worldwide, as well as donations.

Reality

The Moderator stressed that the Kuntunse Project had now become a reality and could not be abandoned.

He, therefore, challenged all Presbyterians who had not yet contributed to come on board, stressing that the project had reached a stage where it could only steadily progress.

“We have come so far that we cannot go back, and we cannot abandon it.

We must complete what we have started.

Whatever the Lord enables you to give, let us all do so to the glory of God,” he urged.

He prayed that God’s presence would continue to guide all those involved in the work and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to ensuring the project is completed to the highest standard.

Sharing his impressions following the GAC’s inspection, the Moderator noted that the 1,600-seat conference hall is expected to be ready by October 2026, describing it as a facility that will rank among the finest conference halls in Ghana.

“We are very impressed with the progress. Beyond the main structure, we can also see that work is being done on the roads across the compound.

"By the time the project is completed, the road network and green areas will also be ready, and when we come, we will be excited to see it all together,” he remarked.
