Nathaniel Mawuli Agbozo-Ayeh wins 2024 Junior Graphic National Essay Competition
A student of St Dominic R/C Basic School, Akwatia, in the Eastern Region, Nathaniel Mawuli Agbozo-Ayeh, has been adjudged winner of the 2024 Junior Graphic National Essay Competition (JGNEC).
For his prize, he will receive GH¢2,500, a tablet, souvenirs from sponsors and a certificate for participating in the competition.

A student of University Junior High School, Cape Coast, in the Central Region, James Kwame Anti, placed second.
James will take home GH¢2,000, a tablet, souvenirs from sponsors and a certificate of participation.
The third position was taken by Nicole Naa Lamley Mills, a former student of Christ the King School in Accra.
She will be presented with a cash prize of GH¢1,500, a tablet, souvenirs from sponsors and a certificate.
A student of St Paul Methodist JHS, Tema, Abena Ayepah Koomson, placed fourth, while Joseph Frimpong Asare of the Ideel Community School in Accra was fifth.
The sixth and seventh positions were taken by Obaa Yaa Frimpong of the Silicon Valley International School, Accra, and Aaron Kofi Danquah of the Winterfell School respectively.

A student of Dar-Es-Salaam ‘A’ JHS in Accra, Christabel Naa Torshie Abbey, was eighth while a student of St Anthony R/C JHS, Nkawkaw, in the Eastern Region, Eugenia Kissiwaa Frimpong, came ninth.
The tenth position was taken by a learner of St Jude Catholic School in Accra, Innarh Nau Nyande.
The fourth to tenth winners will receive GH¢500, souvenirs from sponsors and a certificate each.
Commendation
The Editor, Junior Graphic, Hannah Acheampong Amoah, congratulated the 10 winners on their great achievement, adding that their hard work had paid off.

"We received an overwhelming number of entries from students across the country and your achievement is a testament to your exceptional writing skills.
“I hope this remarkable feat inspires you to continue to strive for excellence and achieve your dreams. You have made your school, teachers and parents proud," she stated.
Mrs Amoah encouraged students who did not win not to give up but to continue to read the paper and participate in the contest till they made a mark.

She said the winners would receive their prizes at an awards ceremony next year.
Contest
This year's competition was in two phases – the preliminary and final stages. At the preliminary stage, the students wrote their essays in the comfort of their homes and submitted them. Over 1,000 entries were received.
Out of that number, 50 students were shortlisted to take the final test, supervised by officials of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL) stationed in their various regions.

During the final stage, the contestants were asked to answer any one of the following questions:
1. You have been nominated to represent your school as a speaker at a programme where children will be educated on developing good investment habits. What will you tell the children in your speech to encourage them to adopt the habit of saving?
2. Write a story which ends: "That is why I regretted what I did."
3. Goal Six of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is about achieving universal and equal access to safe and affordable drinking water by 2030.

Write a letter to the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources stating and explaining three practical measures the government can implement to meet the target.
The competition, which was on the theme: “Impacting society with imaginative abilities: The role of children", was sponsored by FirstBank Ghana and Promasidor (Ghana) Limited, producers of Cowbell.
