Register with High Commission; Namibian residents in Ghana urged

The Namibia High Commission has encouraged citizens of that country residing in Ghana to take apart in its supplementary voter registration exercise which is scheduled to take place between July 8 and July 27, this year.

The High Commission said by exercising their franchise voters would be able to take part in the upcoming Namibian Presidential and National Assembly Elections which will be held on November 13, 2019 at the country’s missions abroad and on November 27, 2019 in Namibia.

A statement issued on July 4 in Accra and signed by the Namibia High Commissioner, Mr Charles B. Josob, urged all Namibians residing in Ghana, Benin, Sierra Leone, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Liberia to register at the High Commission in Ghana.

The exercise is an opportunity for Namibians living outside the country and have never registered and those who have attained 18 years and those who have lost their voter cards to do so.

He said voter cards obtained during the 2014 elections remained valid and useable for the November general election.

“All Namibian citizens aged 18 years and older are expected to go and exercise their democratic right and participate in national elections on that date,” he added.
