Tertiary Business Sense Challenge: UEW crowned champions of South-West Zone
The University of Education Winneba (UEW) are the new champions of the South-West Zone in the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge.

They beat the defending South-West Zonal Champions — University of Cape Coast (UCC) — and first-timers, Nduom School of Business and Technology (NSBT), in a cagy contest.
The new champions secured their victory in an all Central Region finale held at the Central Campus of UEW in the Central Region last Tuesday with 65 points, after taking the lead from the first round through to the final round. UCC placed second with 50 points, while the NSBT was third with19.5 points.
The UEW was represented by Aaron Kojo Fiati, Felix Blay, Success Defor and Joshua Agbowado. The UCC was represented by Jesse Blessing Nyarko, Frank Kaku Akwei, Aaron Nii Lamptey and Dennis Wisdom Ansah, while, Lawrencia Nelson, Manasseh Amoah, Eyiah Arhin and Abdul Samed Abdulahi represented the NSBT.
Qualification
All the three universities have automatically qualified for the national contest which is expected to take place in Accra in November this year. The top three institutions from all four zones would participate in the challenge.
The 6th Edition of the TBSC promises to be more competitive and exciting, with each of the best 36 business institutions across the country seeking to earn the bragging rights as the best among equals.
The competitiveness of the contest has seen four different universities win the contest, but only UCC has won it twice.
The other winners are University for Development Studies in Tamale; Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, and UEW, who are the reigning champions.

The TBSC is a quiz contest championed by Graphic Business, a stable of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd, in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), and sponsored by MTN, PwC, the Glico Group, CompuGhana and the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT).
It is aimed at bridging the gap between academia and professional experience to enhance business and entrepreneurial experience of undergraduate students.
Preparations
In an interview with the Daily Graphic, the Coach of Team UEW, Dr Samuel Gadzo, expressed delight at the victory, and affirmed their preparation to win the national championship.
"We are going to prepare our students accordingly and hopefully we will retain the trophy. We are going to count on them again and give them all the materials available, and I believe that based on those preparations, we will come out victorious," he said.
He expressed gratitude to organisers of the competition since it had helped both lecturers and students to push beyond their limits in finding practical solutions to new developments in the business terrain.
The Coach of the UCC Team, Dr Seyram Kawor, said his participants would perform well in the national championship and win it for the third time.

The Adverts, Sales and Events Officer of GCGL, and Coordinator of the TBSC, Hussein Zekeri, expressed gratitude to the sponsors and participating schools for displaying commitment and enthusiasm in the programme which he said had made the competition more exciting.
For his part, the Quizmaster of TBSC, Alhassan Yussif Trawule, said there had been some improvement in this year’s edition of TBSC in terms of competitiveness, production, interest and participation.
