The Mirror celebrates mothers at Labadi Beach Hotel
The Mirror, the family newspaper in the stable of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd., in partnership with Labadi Beach Hotel, yesterday hosted a luxurious Mother’s Day buffet lunch to celebrate mothers and mother figures for their immense contributions to society.
The colourful event, sponsored by Ecobank Ghana, Japan Motors Trading Company Limited, GB Foods Ghana, GC Brand, Everpack Ghana Limited, Madar Group Limited and Woodin, brought together families for an afternoon of banqueting, music and celebration.
The event featured live musical performances by the musicologist, Dr Alfred Patrick Addaquay,who entertained patrons, and elated mothers queued up on the dance floor.
A kindergarten teacher at Bakanta R/C Basic School, Grace Ackah, was honoured by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) for her dedication to education in the Ellembelle District.
She was recognised for her 38 years of commitment to ensuring that children in the district crossed a river to access basic education.
Mother’s love, sacrifice
At the start, the Editor of The Mirror, Doreen Hammond, welcomed the guests, saying the occasion was to honour and celebrate remarkable women whose love, sacrifice and strength continued to shape families and society.

She said Mothers’ Day was more than a celebration, explaining that it was an opportunity to recognise the invaluable role mothers played in society.
“Mothers are the foundation of the family and the first teachers of compassion, discipline and resilience.
They nurture dreams, provide guidance and offer unwavering support even in the most challenging moments,” Ms Hammond said.
The Editor of The Mirror stated that in today’s fast-changing world, mothers continued to carry enormous responsibilities with grace and determination.
“Mothers are balancing careers, businesses and family life while still ensuring the wellbeing of the family,” she stated.
Ms Hammond said the occasion was decked on the belief of The Mirror that celebrating mothers should go beyond words and flowers.
“Through this gathering, we aim to create a memorable experience that makes every mother and mother figure here feel valued and appreciated,” she added.
Ms Hammond also expressed appreciation to the management and staff of Labadi Beach Hotel for the warm hospitality and the befitting setting for the celebration.
Invest in children’s future
The Head of Marketing and Brands at Ecobank Ghana, Regina Ofori, described mothers as society’s “first trusted financial institution.”
She encouraged parents and guardians to invest in the future of their children and wards through the bank’s Junior Saver Account.
“In the next 18 years, even if you are putting GH¢20 into the account until the child turns 18, that is a good investment,” she said, adding that birth certificates were all that was needed to open the account.
Madar’s range
A representative of Madar Group Limited, Esther Nartey, highlighted the company’s range of household products, including soaps, antiseptics, bleach and its newly launched Lemonite washing powder.
She described the company as an affordable and quality household brand.
Japan Motors, Silver Star Auto
A representative of Japan Motors, Prudence Quansah, introduced patrons to the new Geely Cityray, describing it as a suitable family vehicle.
She said the vehicle came with a six-year warranty and several advanced features, including lane departure warning, a built-in cooler, easy-access air sofa seats, a 13.2-inch screen and wireless charging capabilities.
Also speaking at the event, Harriet Asafo-Agyei of Silver Star Auto Limited introduced participants to the company’s new vehicle model, highlighting its spacious interior, fuel efficiency, Apple and Android car play features, as well as a built-in cooling compartment suitable for long-distance travel.
