Ghana’s ambassador to Senegal presents letters of credence
Ghana's Ambassador to Senegal, Mrs Irene Dede Narko Maamah, has presented her letters of credence to the President of the Republic of Senegal, Mr Macky Sall, at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Dakar.

Mrs Maamah inspected a guard of honour mounted in her honour at the forecourt of the Presidential Palace.

Receiving the letters of credence, President Sall indicated that he looked forward to strengthening the existing bonds of friendship and co-operation between the two countries.
He stated that Ghana was one of Senegal’s closest allies on the continent. He wished the new ambassador well on her assignment and expressed the conviction that the bilateral relations between the two countries would be further strengthened.

Mrs Maamah lauded President Sall’s resolve to promote democracy and regional unity through his efforts to bring peace to the troubled states of Guinea and Guinea Bissau.
She praised him for his efforts to raise $4.5 billion from development partners for the implementation of the ‘Senegal Plan,’ a development strategy, which among other objectives, seeks to strengthen relations between Senegal and other nations.
She also took note of the president’s policy to support women in economic ventures and health for all, starting with free medical care for children and the physically challenged.
The ceremony also presented an avenue for the two dignitaries to discuss the need for the commencement of talks for a Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC), which is to begin in earnest to solidify Ghana and Senegal’s growing relations.

The two also discussed the forthcoming Francophonie Summit scheduled for December this year.
The ambassador hosted some Ghanaians at her residence during which she granted an interview to the Daily Graphic and assured the Ghanaian community of her unflinching resolve to protect their well-being and promote Ghana’s diplomatic and economic agenda.
She also requested the Ghanaian community to contribute their quota to the development of Ghana.
