Peter Nsiah wins first best farmer award at Amansie South
A 43-Year-old man has made history as the first Best Farmer of Amansie South, one of the newly-created districts in the Ashanti Region.
At the maiden farmers day celebration in the district held at Manso Adubia last Friday, Mr Peter Kwame Nsiah from Nkrumakrom was adjudged the District Best Farmer.
He took home a number of agricultural implements as his award.
In all, 20 farmers were honoured in the district.
Take farming serious
Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr William Asante Bediako, said though farming was not an easy venture, it remained the vocation with prospects for the youth.
He commended the hardworking farmers in the district for their decision to feed the nation.
He opined that, at the end of the year the nation should thank God for the rains and sunshine throughout the year which helped farmers.
He said the foodstuffs displayed at the celebration showed that farmers in the country took good advantage of the rains and sunshine throughout the year to plant their crops to feed the nation.
The DCE urged the farmers to pray for the President as he had good plans for farming.
Gratitude
The District Best Farmer thanked the organisers of the event for recognising his efforts and pledged to work even harder in the years ahead.
He advised the youth to take an interest in farming since it comes with a lot of benefits.
