Boss of Ghana’s 5G supplier who went missing found by police
Tony Mintah, one of the bosses at NextGen Infraco, Ghana's fifth generation (5G) technology service provider, who went missing on Wednesday has been found by the police,
The police had put out a notice asking for public help to trace his whereabouts, after he was reportedly picked by unidentified men at the premises of the National Communications Authority (NCA) at Airport City in Accra.

Ghana’s 5G technology has been planned to go live on November 1, 2024 and Tony Mintah is one of the people at the helm of affairs at NextGen Infraco, the special purpose vehicle (SPV) leading the move.

An earlier police statement issued Wednesday (October 23) afternoon said Tony Mintah "was allegedly taken away by unidentified individuals from the premises of the National Communications Authority (NCA) in Accra."
The police statement did not indicate when he was taken away, except to state that anybody with relevant information about his whereabouts should contact the police.
However, after an hour of the earlier public notice declaring him missing, the police put out another statement indicating that he had been found.
"The Ghana Police wishes to inform the public that Mr Tony Mintah, the Chief Executive Officer of NextGen Infraco has been found. Details will be provided soon," the second statement indicated.

NextGen InfraCo is the SPV awarded the licensing contract to execute Ghana's upgrade to the 5G spectrum.
The government issued the 5G service licence to Next Gen InfraCo, a new shared infrastructure company, which is co-promoted by the government and seven other industries.
The partners for the service as indicated by the government are Ascend Digital, K-NET, Radisys, Nokia, Tech Mahindra, AT Ghana, and Telecel Ghana.
According to Next Gen Infraco, as an SPV of Ascend Digital Solutions, and following the successful rollout of network services in Ghana, it will expand its vision to enable Africa to embrace its true calling, by offering a shared network opportunity like no other.

The police are yet to provide details as to what actually happened and who picked Tony Mintah up, and to where.
