GNCC elects new executive
The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce (GNCC) has elected new national executive to run the chamber for the next two years.
The new executive who were elected and sworn into office at the 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the chamber in Accra, have Dr Appiagyei Dankawoso as the new president of the chamber.
He replaced Mr Seth Adjei-Baah, whose administration expired on Wednesday, January 13, 2015.
The other new executive included the First Vice-President, Clement Osei-Amoako; Second Vice-President, Victoria Hajar, and National Treasurer, Ebenezer Mensah.
Appreciation
Dr Dankwawoso, in his acceptance speech, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and the other executives by the delegates.
He reiterated the commitment of all elected officers to continue the good work the previous executive members started and also work harder to move the chamber to greater heights.
He indicated that his immediate priority was to embark on a massive membership drive for the chamber, adding that there was the need to strengthen the chamber to make it more viable.
“Our administration would develop a five-year strategic plan which will focus on the expansion of the chamber and the growth of the private sector in general,” he noted.
Chamber/govt collaboration
He said the year 2013 and 2014 experienced several upheavals, evidenced by public sector industrial actions under an unreliable supply of vital utilities, an increase in the general cost of doing business and the general decline in economic performance.
His administration, he said, would engage the government to address the number of challenges businesses operating in the country encountered on daily basis.
“As we commit ourselves to serving you, many challenges may arise but I would like to assure you, as a leader, that we will make the necessary sacrifices and I believe with your support and prayers, we will be able to surmount every challenge,” the GCC President added.
