Government committed to STEM education - Dr Adutwum

The Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Adutwum, has commended two schools in the Awutu Senya East Municipality and the Gomoa East District of the Central Region for embracing and implementing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.

The two educational institutions are the Youth Executive School in the Awutu Senya East municipality and the Onua Francis International School in the Gomoa East district.

The minister made the commendation after 34 students and the Director of the schools, Francis Okyeahene, paid a courtesy call on him on their return from an educational trip in Dubai. 

Citation 

The school authorities presented a citation to the minister for the leadership he had shown in the transformation of the education sector.   
Dr Adutwum said the two schools were doing a lot in the area of STEM education and that it was based on that the students embarked on the trip to Dubai in order to acquire further knowledge in the programme.

He said he was excited about the initiative of the school authorities, adding that discussions with them had been fruitful.

Vision 

He said the president’s vision for the education sector was something that was going to improve education delivery and it was in view of that the government was doing everything to ensure its realisation so as to prepare children well for the development of the country.

He commended the school authorities for the visit.

Later, Mr Okyeahene said the schools decided to visit the minister to let him know of what they were doing in education as far as STEM was concerned.

The objective of the management, he said, was to help improve the quality of education in the country.
