The patient, Diallo Dawda, who was suffering from piles, had visited the health facility to undertake a surgical operation after returning from Guinea.

However, authorities of the hospital, after enquiries, expressed fear that the patient could be an Ebola patient since the disease was prevalent in his country of origin.

The acting Administrator of the hospital, Mr Musah Donkor, who confirmed the incident to the Daily Graphic, said the patient was immediately quarantined after it came to light that he had come from Guinea.

He noted that though the patient had not shown any symptoms of the disease after being admitted and subsequently isolated at the hospital, authorities of the hospital were closely monitoring him to detect if he would exhibit any of the signs of the deadly disease.

According to him, after it was noticed that the patient was a Guinean, the Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) was notified.

He added that the patient had been quarantined under the directives of the Municipal Director of the GHS for the past 17 days and added that they were monitoring him for 21 days to find out if he would show any of the symptoms of the disease.
