NIB supports Police Hospital

The Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Alhassan, has asked all commanders of the Ghana Police Service to be proactive in seeking support from stakeholders to deal with the challenges they face.

He explained that the government’s budgetary allocation alone could not cater for the needs of the service.

Mr Alhassan made the call in Accra yesterday when he received a cheque for GH¢100,000 from the National Investment Bank (NIB) for the purchase of an Electrocardiogram (ECG) equipment to support heart screening at the Police Hospital.

"It is refreshing that we have corporate bodies that are ready to support the Ghana Police Service," he said.

Appeal for support

The Medical Director of the hospital, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Mr S.M. Zakariah, said the ECG machine would be used to diagnose patients who might otherwise not be aware that they were suffering from a heart disease.

The Managing Director of NIB, Mr Ernest Mawuli Agbesi, expressed the hope that the equipment would  help to detect heart-related conditions for patients to be helped medically.
