Health Ministry sets up committee to investigate alleged denial of emergency care
The Ministry of Health has constituted a three-member investigative committee to probe the circumstances surrounding the death of 29-year-old engineer Charles Amissah on February 6, 2026, following allegations of denial of emergency care.
The decision, announced in a press release dated February 18, aims to establish facts and assess compliance with emergency healthcare protocols.
The committee is chaired by pathologist Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, with Dr. Henry Kwasi Bulley representing the Ghana Medical Association, and Dr. Koku Awoonor-Williams serving as Technical Advisor to the Health Minister as members.
Its mandate includes examining the sequence of events, decision-making processes, and adequacy of existing policies governing emergency care delivery.
The committee is expected to submit its findings and recommendations to the Minister for Health by March 5, 2026.
The Ministry assured the public of its commitment to promoting integrity, strengthening accountability, and ensuring all health facilities adhere to established standards of care.
