Helicopter tragedy: IPR pays tribute to fallen public servants

The Institute of Public Relations (IPR), Ghana, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

In a statement signed by its President, Ms Esther A. N. Cobbah, the IPR described the incident as a national tragedy and extended condolences to the bereaved families, President John Dramani Mahama, the Government of Ghana, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the entire nation.

Those who perished in the crash include Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah; Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed; Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Samuel Sarpong; former parliamentary candidate, Mr Samuel Aboagye; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

“These men dedicated their lives to public service and to safeguarding the peace, development and progress of our nation. Their commitment, patriotism and sense of duty remain an inspiration to all,” the statement read.

The IPR emphasised its solidarity with all Ghanaians during what it described as “a period of profound grief” and prayed for the souls of the departed to rest in peace, adding that their legacy would continue to “light the path of national service.”
