Honorary Consular Corps of Ghana honours Amarteifio

The Honorary Consular Corps of Ghana has conferred the title Dean Emeritus on Mr Amarkai Amarteifio in appreciation of his contribution to strengthening relations between the Honorary Consular Corps and Ghana.

The honour was conferred on him following his retirement as the Dean of the Honorary Consular Corps of Ghana after a 16-year stewardship. 

He also retired as the Consul General of Sweden, a position he held for nearly 26 years. 

Commendation

At a dinner in Mr Amarteifio’s honour held in Accra at the weekend, Dr Alex Quarmyne, the Honorary Consul of The Philippines, praised Mr Amarteifio for his outstanding leadership of the Honorary Consular Corps of Ghana, during which he presented the organisation with its current constitution, which reflected the role and functions of the Honorary Consul and the obligations and rights of both the sending and receiving states, according to the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.

Present at the event was the Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,  Dr Joseph Ago who represented the Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr Kwesi Quartey; the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Ghana, Madam Pavelyn Tendai Musaka; Mr K. B. Asante, a retired diplomat and social commentator, and Mr Nat Nuno-Amarteifio, a former Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA)).

New dean

Mr Amarteifio introduced Mr Dimitri Avraam as the new Dean of the Honorary Consular Corps of Ghana and asked members of the corps to extend the same cooperation to Mr Avraam as they did to him to ensure cordial relations between the corps and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
