The International Monetary Fund on Friday approved a three-year $918 million financial assistance deal for Ghana, aimed at restoring economic stability and boosting job growth, saying it would disburse about $114.8 million immediately.
"The program aims to restore debt sustainability and macroeconomic stability to foster a return to high growth and job creation, while protecting social spending," the IMF said in a statement.
Ghana's economy is expected to grow around 3.9 percent in 2015, a sharp reduction from previous years in which it saw sustained annual growth of around 8 percent on the back of exports of gold, cocoa and oil.
