Italian govt provides medical supplies for treatment of June 3 disaster survivors
The Italian government has donated medical supplies and equipment valued at $30,000 to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) to facilitate treatment of survivors of the June 3 disaster in Accra.

The consignment included a blood bank fridge, a defibrillator, spine boards, litres of intravenous solutions and medical suits for surgery.
Other supplies were face mask, endotrachreal tubes, surgical gloves, crepe bandages, liquid paraffin oil, emergency rolls and zinc oxide plaster.

Handing over the consignment in Accra, the Italian Ambassador, Ms Laura Carpini, said Italy was deeply moved by the tragic event that occurred on June 3.
According to her, the Italian government decided to contribute to the relief of victims who survived the explosion, as well as help replenish the medical stores of the hospital whose medicines had been used up as a result of treating victims of the tragic event.
She reiterated the country's commitment to strengthen the relationship between both countries.

Receiving the items, the Minister of Health, Mr Alex Segbefia, said the tragic event had demonstrated the strong relationship between Ghana and other countries.
He commended organisations and other countries for donating medical supplies and other relief items to facilitate treatment of victims.
Dr Segbefia gave an assurance that the items would be put to good use and expressed appreciation on behalf of the government.
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KBTH, Dr Gilbert Buckle, said the items donated were timely and appropriate and would facilitate the treatment of patients.

Minister visit survivors
After the presentation ceremony, Mr Segbefia, Dr Buckle and the Italian Ambassador moved to the Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre (RPS&BC) of the hospital to visit the survivors of the explosion.
