Jumah petitions AG over destruction of electoral materials case

Maxwell Kofi Jumah has petitioned the Attorney General (AG) over the case in which he has been accused of destroying election material and putting up a conduct offensive to the conduct of a peaceful election.

Jumah who contested and lost the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) parliamentary primaries at the Asokwa constituency in Kumasi on June 13, was arrested by the police for destroying election material. He was put in police custody and released the next day.

He has been charged together with his campaign manager, Riches Oscar and the case was to be heard Monday June 29, 2015 at the Kumasi Circuit Court.

However, because of his petition, the docket has been forwarded to the office of the Attorney General, as a result the case has been adjourned to July 6, 2015.

Jumah, a former Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development who also served as a Kumasi Mayor is currently on a GH¢10,000 bail. His campaign Manager, Oscar is also on a GH¢10,000 bail.
