Korean outfit begins training, recruitment at RMU for shipbuilding industry
The Korean government, through With Human (WH) Company Limited, a recruitment organization, has begun the training of Ghanaian youth for recruitment into the Korean shipbuilding industry.

The ongoing exercise at the Regional Maritime University (RMU) forms part of efforts to get personnel, specifically welders and fabricators, to fill the gaps within the sector.
The initiative aims to recruit welders, polishing and sharpening their skills to meet the standards of the Korean shipbuilding and maritime industry.
Currently, 15 personnel are being trained, with a considerable number to be added following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the RMU and WH on Thursday in Accra.
Speaking at the MoU signing, Ag. Vice Chancellor of the RMU, Dr. Jethro W. Brooks, said they were looking forward to training more personnel to take up positions within the Korean maritime industry.
“We appreciate that you have decided to come to the university to help train the youth so they can have better employable skills and opportunities for livelihoods,” he stated.
“I hope the upcoming training will be much bigger, and that the MoU signing will be the beginning of greater things in terms of strengthening the capacity of our youth and improving their skills as a whole,” he added.
Director at WH, Peter C.M. Chang, speaking on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kim Yun Bae, said they were committed to establishing a mutually beneficial relationship with the RMU that would support their industry.

He, however, said they were looking forward to receiving as many youth as possible as there were many opportunities within the sector.
“We want to train more people as long as they are available and willing to study. We need as many youth on board,” he stressed.
“It has been an interesting journey as we look forward to utilizing personnel for the Korean maritime industry. The industry is ready to accept trained personnel from Ghana to fill gaps within the industry,” he added.
“We want to grow and connect with the people and ensure that they are gainfully employed after training. It is a good opportunity for all and actually a win-win situation,” he emphasized.
The Korean government, he said, was pleased with the collaboration and looking forward to an amazing partnership that would foster economic growth.
“We are very happy to cooperate with the RMU, which has ultramodern facilities that make the future promising, especially for Ghana, hoping that partners would hold each other in trust," he concluded.
