Kpandai: Nawuris observe Kewukiba festival

The chiefs and people of Nawuri in the Northern Region have observed the 2025 'Kewukiba' Festival.

It was held on the theme “Youth as catalysts for sustainable peace and development: The Nawuri way forward.”

Speaking at the ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kpandai, Abdul Haruna Karim, appealed to the people to uphold unity and peaceful coexistence.

He said Kpandai’s economic and agricultural potential can only be fully realised in a peaceful and united environment.

He warned that protracted chieftaincy disputes and divisions among traditional leaders risk deterring investors and slowing development.

"You are our landlords. What we ask for is unity so we can all feel proud and work together to develop Kpandai,” he said.

He stressed that government policies and development interventions can only succeed in stable and united communities.

Echoing the call, the Nawuriwura, Nana Abuga-Aba I, urged Nawuris at home and in the diaspora to set aside their differences and work together for progress.

“Unity is a powerful tool for development, peace, and prosperity. Division weakens communities and stalls progress,” he said.

The Paramount Chief reminded the people that despite differences in language, background, and occupation, Nawuris remain one people bound by shared heritage and traditions. He encouraged dialogue, peaceful conflict resolution, and responsible leadership by chiefs and elders.

Turning to the youth, Nana Abuga-Aba I challenged them to work hard, respect elders, and preserve Nawuri customs and values.

The President of the Nawuri  Professional Association (NPA), Mr. Nyefene Vincent Amiaseng described 'Kewukiba' as a powerful symbol of Nawuri identity and unity.

“Kewukiba reminds us that we are one people with a common destiny. It breaks social barriers, promotes unity among ourselves, and encourages peaceful coexistence with our neighbours,” he said.
