Kumasi police pick 3 for printing ‘fake’ EC accreditation
Three people have been arrested by the police in Kumasi for printing fake Electoral Commission observer accreditation cards.
They had in their possession the fake accreditation cards bearing the names of Alhaji Sani Mohammed, Alhaji Abass, Mohammed Awal and Musah Osman as supposed observers for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Below is a photo of some of the fake cards which was shown to Graphic Online by the police.
The Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusif Mohammed Tanko who confirmed the arrest told Graphic Online that, a fourth suspect was on the run.
He gave the names of those arrested as Stephen Gyan 54, Amoah Gyan 34 and Bawuah Richard 41.
The name of the one on the run was given as Sly.
ASP Tanko said the suspects allegedly printed the cards from AC Gyan Printing Press at Adum.
Generally, he said the polls was moving smoothly in the entire Ashanti region.
4 men in military uniforms arrested
In another development, four civilians who were seen wearing military uniforms have also been arrested.
According to ASP Tanko, they were arrested by military men around Obuasi and handed over to the police.
They have since been transferred to the Regional Police headquarters in Kumasi.
