La Nkwantanang-Madina assembly builds capacity of members
The La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA) has held a three-day workshop to educate sub-district heads on their roles and duties in the assembly.
According to the Municipal Chief Executive of LaNMMA, Ms Jennifer Dede Afagbedzi, the sub-district structures in the assembly did not perform their statutory functions efficiently for several reasons.
She mentioned that the assembly would equip and provide the needed logistics and human resource to make the zonal councils fully operational.

Commitment
She urged the members and heads at the sub-district level to take the training seriously to equip themselves with the required competencies to fully realise the aspirations of the assembly.
Ms Afagbedzi reiterated the commitment of the municipal assembly to continue to organise such capacity building programmes to better equip assembly members.
Duties
For his part, a development consultant, Mr Anthony Owusu, said the workshop would educate the sub-district heads on the roles they needed to perform.
According to him, the unit and zonal heads knew little or had no knowledge about their responsibilities and functions.
“Because they are oblivious of their basic duties, they do not know what exactly their roles are,” he stated.
He also added that the workshop would equip the unit and zonal council and committee members on how to prepare action plans for their various units, write reports and project proposals and also engage in proper revenue mobilisation.
