Lack of civil education causing indiscipline - Martey

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Rt Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey, has expressed concern about the lack of parental and civic education in the Ghanaian society resulting in indiscipline everywhere.

The situation, he stressed, had become a great challenge to both the church and the government.

According to Rt Rev. Martey, the problem persisted because children were being brought up by those who were themselves not mature.

The moderator was preaching at the 150th anniversary celebration of Akyem Swedru PCG and the dedication of the church’s new chapel, which coincided with the presentation of awards to winners of the children’s service and junior youth competitions at a ceremony at Akyem Swedru last Sunday.

The theme for the occasion was, “Nurturing the child to bear fruit.”

Rt Rev. Martey emphasised the need for children to be trained and brought up well so that they could offer their quota towards the building of a better nation.

The Akyem Swedru District Minister of the P.C.G,  Rev. Paul Osei-Nkrumah, said the church had established an evangelism post at Akyem Swedru where those there would visit various schools, markets and street children to preach the word of God to them.
