Police re-arrest 3 escapees from Adabraka police station

Three out of six suspects who escaped from police custody at the Adabraka Police station in Accra have been re-arrested by the police.

The remaining three are still on the run, and the police are on a manhunt for them.

Meanwhile, the police have refuted reports suggesting that the suspects who escaped are linked to Sammy Gyamfi's father-in-law’s murder case.

According to the police, the murder suspects were not in custody at the Adabraka Police Station, and therefore the escapees have no connection with that case.

“The Command has initiated a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape. It has intensified a manhunt to arrest the remaining three escapees and ensure they are brought to justice,” a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, in charge of public relations at the Greater Accra Command, said.

Anyone with credible information on the whereabouts of the remaining escapees have been urged to report to the nearest Police Station.

Murder suspects

In a separate press statement issued by the Western Central Police command, it was explained that the murder suspects in the case of Sammy Gyamfi's father-in-law, Andrew Amankwah at Ohwim in Kumasi are still in custody.

They have since been remanded in custody to reappear on May 7, 2026.

The accused persons are Kojo Amponsah alias Kamakazie, Emmanuel Appiah alias Taller and Tanko Bashiru alias TK.
