Lands Commission gets equipment boost for digitisation drive

The Lands Commission has received office and digitisation equipment from LMI Holdings, a diversified Ghanaian conglomerate with interests in construction, industrial park development, real estate, utilities and ICT, to support its operations.

The items were presented at a short ceremony in Accra on Monday, June 15, 2026. They included a barcode scanner, an HP LaserJet printer, a Canon DSLR camera, a Canon R100 camera, an HP Elite desktop computer and two Ricoh F1 7700 scanners.

Presenting the items, the Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer of LMI Holdings, Mr Kojo Aduhene, said the donation was in recognition of the working relationship between the company and the Commission over the years.

He said the two institutions had worked together on a number of projects and would continue to do so, particularly on the government’s proposed new city project, which he said would require close coordination between the private sector and the Commission.

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Commission, the Acting Executive Secretary, Prof Anthony Owusu Ansah, thanked LMI Holdings and said the items would aid the Commission’s day to day operations.

He said the donation, though modest compared with the scale of resources required, would support ongoing efforts to digitise the Commission’s records under the Enterprise Land Information System, which he said was being rolled out to other regions of the country.

Prof Owusu Ansah said the Commission’s records remained vulnerable to manual alteration and that additional investment would be required to address the challenge, although he did not provide a timeline or cost estimate.

Touching on the proposed new city project, he said the Commission would have to undertake surveying, land use planning and documentation of existing land ownership in any affected areas before the project could commence. He did not specify the areas under consideration or indicate when that work would begin.

Prof Owusu Ansah said the Commission would continue to engage with LMI Holdings and other stakeholders as planning for the project progressed.
