Lions Clubs International

In an interview in Accra, regarding the visit, the Past District Governor of District 403-A2 of Lions Clubs International, Lion (Mrs) Gloria Esi Lassey, said Lions Clubs International was an American secular, non-political service organisation founded by Melvin Jones in 1917.

As of April 2015, she said the association had over 46,000 local clubs and more than 1.4 million members in over 200 countries around the world.

Lion Lassey said whenever a Lions club come together, problems become smaller saying “communities get better”.

That's because they help where help is needed, in our own communities and around the world,  with unmatched integrity and energy.

“Our 46,000 clubs and 1.4+ million members make us the world's largest service club organisation.

“We are also one of the most effective and our members do whatever is needed to help their local communities,” the past District Governor stated.

Currently, she said, Lions Clubs International extends its mission of service every day in local communities and in all corners of the globe.

“The needs are great and the services broad, including sight, health, youth, elderly, the environment and disaster relief,” she noted, adding, “Our international network has also grown.”

2017 District Convention

Lion Lassey announced that Ghana would host the 2017 Multiple District 403 Convention in Accra. It will bring together 29 countries from West and Central Africa and the Indian Ocean.
