Medical doctor supports Nandom Hospital

The Helios Klinik Attendorn, a medical facility in Germany has donated quantities of hospital consumables and surgical instruments valued at about 30,000 euros (GH¢201,000) to the Nandom Hospital in the Upper West Region.

Items

The items included two boxes of care lotion (medical), two boxes of wash lotion (medical), 20 boxes of hand disinfectants and wipes costing 10,000 euros and a quantity of surgical instruments valued at 20,000 euros.

Presentation

The Deputy Head of Department of General Surgery of the Helios Klinik Attendorn in Germany Dr Mathias Bebobru, made the donation on behalf of the facility at the hospital.

Dr Beboru, who is also a native of Nandom championed the mobilisation of the items with the support of the health facility where he works.

Presenting the items, Dr Bebobru explained that he felt he owed it as a duty to support the hospital, which was the major source of health delivery in the Nandom area and its environs.

He was grateful to the Head of Department of General Surgery of the Helios Klinik Attendorn Dr Klaus Friedhoff for the immense support he rendered during the mobilisation of the items.

Dr Bebobru pledged that the donation was the beginning of many more support from his workplace and himself to ensure that the “the Nandom Hospital that has taken care of all of us from our childhood and continues to do for us is equipped with all the relevant supplies to enable it functions well.”

He gave the assurance that more assistance would be forthcoming as and when, “am able to moblise resources and other materials required.”

Gratitude

The Pharmacist of the hospital Mr Francis Appiah who received the items, thanked Dr Beboru for remembering his background and moblising to support the hospital.

He said the gesture of Dr Beboru and his workplace should spur other natives of the area to support the hospital as it was the major referral health facility in the area.

Mr Appiah said the hospital did not only serve the people from Nandom and its environs, but for people in the neighbouring Burkina Faso and therefore, needed to be equipped properly to attend to the needs of all those who called at the facility.
