The items included 10 wheel chairs, five water purifiers and 15 pairs of crutches.

Presenting the items to the hospital authorities, the Director of Communications of the Melcom Group of Companies, Mr Godwin Avenorgbo, said the donation was Melcom Care Foundation’s contribution to the healthcare delivery system.

He said while the crutches were to aid patient mobility at the Physiotherapy and Orthopaedic Units, the wheel chairs would facilitate the easy movement of patients at the cardio centre.

Mr Avenorgbo explained that the five water purifiers were jointly donated by Unilever, the manufacturers of the product and Melcom Ltd, its sales and service agents.

The Melcom Group, he said, would make similar donations to schools, communities and deserving institutions nationwide as part of the company’s outreach to support education and health during the company’s 25th anniversary.

Receiving the items, the Director of the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Dr Lawrence Agyemang Sereboe, said the donation would help provide quality health care at the hospital.

In a related development, Melcom Care Foundation has presented a cheque for GH¢1,500 to Miss Joseline Haziel-Cobbina, a fifth-year medical student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as sponsorship to cover her tuition fee for an exchange programme in Oslo, Norway.
