The institutions are the Dolly Memorial Crèche and Nursery School, the Osu Children’s Home and the Loves School at Teshie.

The Director of Communications for the Melcom Group of Companies, Mr Godwin Avenorgbor, who made the presentation, said the gesture formed part of the company’s Republic Day celebrations.

He said there was the need to show love and celebrate with needy children as Ghana marked its 55th Republic Day.

Mr Avenorgbor said the foundation usually donated food and clothing to children, however, the inclusion of teddy bears would help them to learn to socialise, explaining that, “Teddy bear is for companionship”.

He advised the children to be obedient and work hard in order to achieve their goals.

The heads of the three institutions expressed their gratitude to the foundation for their kind gesture.

The Manageress of the Osu Children’s Home, Mrs Christiana Addo, lauded the government, civil society organisations and some benevolent individuals for supporting the orphanage.

However, she said, the home urgently needed vehicles to convey the children to and from school and to run errands.
