The initiative aims at helping Ghanaians to embrace environmental cleanliness and change their attitude towards their surroundings.

As part of the exercise, personnel of the ISD across the country would use mobile cinema vans to show environmental-related documents and talk shows to the people on how to keep clean environment.

They would also give out posters, fliers and leaflets as part of the campaign which begins immediately.

Sealing partnership

At a ceremony to seal the partnership, the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Julius Debrah, was optimistic that the initiative would help carry environmental campaigns to every nooks and cranny of the country.

“The ISD has the capability to reach every market, church, school and community to sensitise the people on the need to change their attitudes towards their surroundings,” he said.

“There is the need for a sustained campaign in all parts of the country to help Ghanaians embrace the importance of cleanliness,” he said.

Adopt best practices

He called on all stakeholders to support the exercise to help rid the country of increasing filth and insanitary conditions.

For his part, the acting Director of the ISD, Mr John E. Adanyina, said the exercise would also educate the people to adopt the best sanitary practices to keep clean environment.

He said the ISDwould also make use of social media platforms to create an interactive platform to elicit feedback and contributions from the people.

“We are prepared to sustain the campaign for which reason Ghanaians must help make it a success,” he added.
