MTN Foundation supports 'Bronya' babies at Korle Bu Hospital
The MTN Foundation, as part of a Boxing Day activity, donated baby hampers to mothers who gave birth during the Christmas season at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
The donation formed part of MTN Ghana’s annual customer and community appreciation programme, which aligns with the spirit of giving associated with Boxing Day.
The presentation took place at the maternity unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where officials of MTN Ghana and the MTN Foundation interacted with mothers who had delivered during the festive season.
The Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, Adwoa Wiafe, explained that Boxing Day has traditionally been associated with acts of generosity, and MTN had consistently embraced the occasion to give back to communities across the country.
She said the Foundation considered it important to support mothers at a time when they are adjusting to the demands of caring for a newborn, particularly during the festive season when financial pressures can be high.
According to her, the hampers were intended to serve as a practical intervention while also communicating MTN’s appreciation to customers and stakeholders for their loyalty and support throughout the year.
The Head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr Charles Takyi, expressed profound appreciation to MTN Ghana and the MTN Foundation for their continuous support to the department over the years.
