The MTN Ghana Foundation has presented GH¢5 million to support the government’s efforts in the fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak in the country.

He said in consultation with the Ministry of Health, the funds would be channelled into the procurement of 10,000 virus sampling kits; 10,000 N95 masks and the same quantity of gloves; 7,500 medical protective suits and four PCR machines for testing.

Part of the funds will also be used to purchase 3,000 RNA extraction kits, 500 infrared thermometers and 3,000 disposable bedsheets.

“From the onset, we made a commitment to provide the needed assistance to help the country, businesses and the entire society stay connected to their work and loved ones. Our support to date has been in that direction,” Mr Adadevoh said.

He said the support was to help in directly combating the disease and also assist the medical teams to provide the needed care to the patients.

“We believe that we are good together as a people, especially, in these times when we all must pitch in to fight this pandemic. We are confident that together we will overcome this challenge,” the CEO of MTN stated.

All hands on deck

The Board Chairman of the MTN Ghana Foundation, Professor Franklin Manu, said: “We believe the situation at hand needs the intervention of all Ghanaians and we are very happy to support with the purchase of these much-needed medical supplies as we complement the government’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19”.
