NACOC partners Uncle Ebo Whyte in fight against youth drug abuse

The Narcotics Control Commission has partnered with Ghanaian playwright Uncle Ebo Whyte, to intensify the campaign against drug abuse among the youth, using the arts and entertainment industry as a vehicle for public education.

The partnership was announced following a courtesy call by the Director-General of NACOC, Brig Gen Maxwell Obuba Mantey, and his Deputy in-charge of Enforcement Control and Elimination, Alexander Twum-Barimah, to the Roverman Productions CEO on Friday, June 12.

Brig Gen Mantey commended Uncle Ebo Whyte for his contribution to national growth through theatre and motivational speaking, and expressed appreciation for his willingness to partner with the Commission.

"NACOC is very appreciative of your willingness to partner with your brand aimed at educating the youth against drug abuse," he said.

He stressed the Commission's commitment to creating platforms that advocate against illicit drug use, which he described as destroying a majority of the youth who should be prepared to lead the country.

Uncle Ebo Whyte assured NACOC of his full support, stating that he will dedicate segments on his Joy 99.7 FM talk show to discuss the dangers of hard drug abuse.

"It is very worrying to see most of our youth becoming vulnerable to hard drugs and think we must all come together as a nation to tackle the menace," he noted.

He also hinted at submitting a proposal to NACOC for consideration, aimed at mounting platforms to highlight the dangers of illicit drug trafficking and abuse.
