He said the commercial ties between the two countries were not the best, describing it as moving at a slow pace.

The Commissioner was looking forward to strengthening its commercial ties by importing goods such as textiles, gold, coffee, nuts and timber from Ghana.

26th Independence Anniversary

Mr Josob made the remarks at the 26th anniversary celebration of his country and the mission’s first anniversary in Ghana.

The bilateral cooperation between both countries, he said, would enable them to address the unemployment and poverty challenges.

Soon, he noted that Ghana would become the hub of an alternative market for fish, beef, beverages and other meat products.

“We are confident that Ghanaian and Namibian businesses could give meaning to this commitment. We are more than ready, “he stated.

In May, he said Namibia would be organising an International Investment Conference at Windhoek, Namibia. The theme for the upcoming event would be “The Journey towards Prosperity.”

Mr Josob urged stakeholders in the sub-region to participate in the event in order to appreciate and interact with investors.

Speaking about international relations, he reaffirmed the need for comprehensive reforms of the concept of representatives on the United Nations Security Council, making it truly representative, effective and democratic.

“Namibia’s position is fully consistent with the African Common Position as contained in the Ezulwini Consensus and the Sirte Declarations respectively,”he stated.

At Ezulwini, Africans called for a more representative and democratic security council, in which Africa, like all other world regions, would be represented in the security council.

Ghana’s Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mr Mahama Ayariga, congratulated the President of Namibia, Mr Hage Geingob, on the country’s 26th independence anniversary celebration.

He pledged Ghana’s support to deepen the already cordial bilateral relations.
