Nestle Ghana educates mothers, caregivers on nutrition
Nestle Ghana Limited has organised a programme in Sunyani to educate mothers and caregivers on nutrition for the optimal growth of their children.

Dubbed; “Nido Nutrition Day”, the programme took place at the Boahene Korkor Presbyterian Primary School and covered three clusters of schools comprising more than 1,000 pupils.
Attended by schoolchildren and their parents, the programme formed part of the company’s social responsibility in promoting good nutrition and healthy lifestyle to contribute to the development of children.
Balanced diet
Through the event, mothers were offered the opportunity to learn about good nutrition through drama, interactive games and quiz competition.
They learnt about balanced diet, the importance of breakfast and health benefits of having iron, calcium and vitamins in the right amounts in their diets.
In the quiz competition, Miss Elizabeth Afedzie was crowned the winner.
For her prize, she was given GH¢500 to assist her to pay the fees for her son, Master Lord Saah of the Sunyani Ebenezer Presbyterian Preparatory School

At the ceremony, a nutritionist and dietician, Miss Priscilla Copson, advised mothers to be conscious of the diet of their children.
She asked them to ensure that their children were given a balanced diet in order to promote proper growth and enhance their academic performance.
For his part, the Head of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Department, Mr Aaron Fenu, said Nestle had made a global commitment to help reduce the risk of under-nutrition through micronutrient-fortification.
He said the company aimed to reach 200 billion annual savings of micronutrient-fortified foods and beverages worldwide by the end of 2016.
According to Mr Fenu, in the Central and West Africa regions, Nestle provided consumers with 58 billion daily savings of micronutrient-fortified foods and beverages in 2015.
