Nine-year-old boy drowns at Sawaba

A nine -year -old boy, Abdallah Mutala, was last Saturday swept away by floods during a downpour at Sawaba in the Asokore Mampong District in the Ashanti Region.

Abdallah met his untimely death while trying to walk over a dilapidated bridge during the stormy rains.

He fell from the flooded bridge into the gutter but a friend with whom he was walking managed to hold on to a thin metal rope to navigate his way out of the gutter.

Abdallah was later found dead at the far end of the gutter by family members after his friend had reported the incident.

His body has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

Family sources told the Daily Graphic that the initial plan was to bury him the same day according to Islamic custom, but the rains compelled them to deposit the body at the KATH morgue.
