North Dayi Assembly to form think tank to steer broad development agenda
The North Dayi District Assembly is to constitute a think tank to offer relevant advice for the socio-economic development of the district.

Membership of the group will be made up of four representatives of each of the nine traditional councils in the district (to be made up of men and women who are experienced and competent in socio-economic development.
According to the North Dayi District Chief Executive, Mr Stephen Timinka, the think tank body will steer the broad development agenda of the district and also serve as an advisory body on policies and programmes.
He said they would oversee the location of projects in the district to avoid any form of inter-village rivalry.
Mr Timinka announced this when he addressed the second ordinary meeting of the second session of the assembly at Anfoega-Akukome.
He said the district assembly had made significant strides in the collection of internally generated funds, adding that within eight months after its inauguration, the assembly had been able to mobilise GH¢56,654 out of the estimated GH¢64, 566.66.
The DCE said the net amount released to the assembly under the District Assembly Common Fund was GH¢128,928. 67 for the third quarter and GH¢150, 261.65 for the fourth quarter of last year.
He, however, said the first, second and third quarter shares of DACF of both the assembly and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the current year had still not been released.

Mr Timinka also disclosed that the district assembly received the first tranche of the 2011 District Development Fund (DDF) in 2014 and that GH¢45,000 was allocated for capacity building and GH¢152,977 for investment, with the assurance that the assembly had qualified for future remittances of DDF because it had been rated 92 per cent under the Functional Organisational Assessment Tool (FOAT) assessment.
He said the DDF had been used to procure office equipment, street-naming property and a public address system.
He said a draft document of District Medium-Term Development Plan (DMTDP) was ready after engagements with various stakeholders and that it would be forwarded to the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) through the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC).
Mr Timinka announced that five projects have been completed and pending inauguration, and they included a six-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Anfoega-Bume, a new lorry park at Vakpo, rehabilitation of health centres at Wusuta and Aveme Danyigba, an information centre at Botoku and Aveme and a health centre and nurses quarters at Jordan-nu and Aneta.
In a welcome address, the Presiding Member of the assembly, Mr Daniel Amedior, said the achievement of the significant improvement in internally- generated funds (IGF) was the result of the initiative to widen the tax net, and urged assembly members to support all efforts to put the assembly on a good and sound footing.
