NSA warns NSS personnel with full-time jobs to regularise status

The Ghana National Service Authority (NSA) has cautioned national service personnel who are also engaged in full-time employment, particularly within the public sector, to regularise their status without delay.

In a statement dated May 16, 2025, the NSA instructed such personnel to report to any of its regional offices nationwide or to the head office to correct their records.

The directive follows the submission of full enrolment lists from the 2024/2025 general category, as well as the 2025/2026 nurses and teachers categories, to the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department for data matching and verification.

The NSA explained that the exercise is intended to identify individuals unlawfully receiving dual income—both national service allowances and salaries from full-time employment—in breach of the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119).

Personnel have until Friday, May 23, 2025, to voluntarily comply. After this deadline, the Authority stated that those found guilty of such misconduct will face severe administrative penalties, including immediate removal from the national service payroll, referral for prosecution, and permanent disqualification from future public sector employment.

The NSA encouraged affected individuals to use this opportunity to regularise their status and avoid facing the full weight of the law.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to integrity, accountability and transparency in the management of national service.
