Obuasi-based businessman and philanthropist Dr Collins Amo has extended his support to two critical sectors in the Adansi enclave, donating five thousand locally manufactured baby diapers to health facilities and rebuilding an entire school block destroyed by fire.
Dr Amo, Chief Executive Officer of Aduro Ye Herbal, producers of Obuasi Bitters and Obuasi Baby Diapers, presented the diapers to St Jude Hospital, Obuasi Government Hospital, SDA Hospital, Bryant Mission Hospital and the AGA Health Foundation. He said the gesture formed part of a broader commitment to improving maternal and child healthcare in the Obuasi East and Obuasi West Municipalities.
“As part of our corporate social responsibility, we find it important to support key sectors such as health, especially when it involves mothers and newborns,” he said during the presentation. He added that the products were made in Obuasi and were expected to ease pressure on both health facilities and families.

Health officials from the beneficiary institutions welcomed the intervention, describing it as timely and aligned with efforts to strengthen essential services for mothers and infants.
The donation comes just two weeks after Dr Amo completed the reconstruction of the Pomposo R/C Primary B school block, which was ravaged by fire last year. Responding to an appeal from school authorities, he financed and rebuilt the facility, including staff offices, washrooms, a headteacher’s office and a fully refurbished classroom block.
A former pupil of the school, Dr Amo said his decision to intervene stemmed from his commitment to supporting community development and improving access to quality education.
“As an old student of the school and a good corporate citizen, I decided to come in and rebuild the structure. I can’t leave everything in the hands of government alone. We must all support,” he said.
Beyond structural reconstruction, he replaced all lost teaching and learning materials, including textbooks, laptops, computers, TV sets and printers originally supplied by the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation.
The Obuasi East Municipal Director of Education, Kwabena Owusu Nketia, praised Dr Amo for his continuous investment in the community, describing his contributions as evidence of meaningful corporate citizenship.
The Headmistress of Pomposo R/C Primary B, Regina Ocansey, said the intervention had rescued the school from a year-long struggle following the disaster. “We were left helpless after the fire outbreak. A year on, we can only say a big thank you to Dr Collins Amo for coming to our aid,” she said.
Dr Amo’s latest initiatives add to a long list of charitable engagements, including support for widows, orphanages and a 200,000 cedi contribution to the Heal KATH project, which earned him public acclaim last year.
